Landscaping in Abbotsford, BC has to handle more variety than most Fraser Valley cities. Compact Clearbrook lots, sloped properties on Sumas Mountain, and working acreage out toward Sumas Prairie. Splendid Landscaping designs, builds, and maintains all of it.
We have worked Abbotsford properties for 15 years. Heavy clay in the flats, drainage that has to be planned rather than hoped for, and a growing season that starts earlier here than it does further west. Our crews plan for that from the first site visit.
That local knowledge matters more here than most people expect. An Abbotsford property that drains badly will kill new planting inside two winters no matter how good the plant list is, and no amount of maintenance afterwards fixes a grade that was wrong from the beginning. So we solve the unglamorous parts first: water, grade, soil, access. Then we design the part you actually see.
Whether you need a full landscape design for a property you have just bought, an installation crew to build a plan you already have, or a maintenance program that keeps a finished property looking finished, we handle the whole arc. Residential, strata, commercial, and acreage.
Most Abbotsford properties we are called to have good bones and no plan. Our landscape designers start with how you actually use the space. Where the sun lands at 4pm, where the kids and dogs actually walk, what you want to stop looking at. Then we then work backwards through drainage, grade, sun, and soil before a single plant is chosen.
You get a drawn plan and a written price, not a mood board. The plan shows planting, hard surfaces, grade changes, and drainage, so you can see how the property works as a whole before anyone breaks ground.
If you want it built in phases across two or three seasons, we design it that way from the start, so phase one does not have to be dug up to make phase two work. Plenty of Abbotsford clients start with drainage and a patio, then add planting and lighting the following year.
And if you would rather build it yourself or use your own contractor, the plan is yours. We are happy to design and hand it over.
Drawn plans, then built. Drainage and grade solved before planting.
Weekly, biweekly, and monthly programs right through the season.
Mowing, edging, aeration, and lawn health monitoring.
Shaping, height control, and seasonal pruning.
New beds, edging, soil preparation, and planting.
Mulch refreshes plus spring and fall property cleanups.
This page covers residential and acreage work. If you manage a strata, a business site, or an industrial property, see our commercial and strata page instead.
Abbotsford has far more acreage and rural residential property than Langley or Surrey, and the ground behaves differently. Two things come up on nearly every quote we write here.
Heavy clay in the flats. Water sits rather than drains, and the difference between topsoil and fill dirt matters more than most people expect. It is the single biggest killer of new planting in Abbotsford, more than frost and more than summer drought. Beds that look fine in August drown quietly in February. The fix is grade and drainage designed in from the start, plus plant selection that tolerates wet feet through a Fraser Valley winter. Our guide to topsoil versus mulch covers what to put where.
Scale changes the method. A half acre or five acre property cannot be maintained like a city lot. It needs larger equipment, different mowing intervals, and a maintenance plan built around how the land is actually used: which parts are lawn, which are pasture, which are simply kept tidy and safe.
Sumas Mountain properties add slope and access on top of both. We quote those on site, never over the phone.
No guesswork, no vague estimates, no pressure. See what landscaping typically costs in the Fraser Valley, then get a firm written quote for your Abbotsford property.
Our crews run scheduled routes right across the city, and the work genuinely differs by area. Clearbrook and Townline Hill are mostly established city lots with mature planting, while the east side and the prairie edge bring slope, acreage, and drainage into every quote.
Local expertise across the region. If you are just outside these areas, call and we will tell you honestly whether we can service you well. We would rather say no than run a route we cannot keep to.
We don’t make this complicated.

“Exceptional high quality service!!! Finally found the right landscaping company where they changed dry and dead cedars, lawns into green landscape so lively to see. Cedars are still green it’s almost 5+ years compare to previous landscapers. Kaushik and his team are transparent in their work including costs and provided tips to keep all green and regular maintenance activities. Highly recommended!!!”

It depends on lot size, grade, access, and whether you are maintaining or building. We come out, take a proper look, and give you a clear written quote. No guesswork and no vague estimates. Design work is quoted separately from installation so you can decide how far to take it. You can also see typical landscaping rates for the Fraser Valley before you book.
Both. We produce drawn landscape plans for Abbotsford properties covering grading, drainage, planting, patios and walkways, and we can build the plan or hand it to you to build. Many clients start with a design and phase the build across two or three seasons.
All of it. Abbotsford West including Clearbrook and Townline Hill, Abbotsford Central including Historic Downtown and Mill Lake, and Abbotsford East including Sumas Mountain and McMillan. We also service acreage out toward Sumas Prairie.
Yes. Abbotsford has far more acreage than most Fraser Valley cities and it needs a different approach: drainage planning, larger equipment, and maintenance scheduled around how the land is actually used.
Yes, but that work lives on its own page. Commercial and strata grounds run on annual programmes with different reporting and insurance requirements, so we cover it separately on our commercial and strata landscaping page.
Heavy clay in the flats holds water, which kills more plantings here than frost does. It means drainage and grade have to be solved before planting, and plant selection has to suit wet winters. We plan for it from the first site visit rather than discovering it later. Our explainer on topsoil and fill dirt covers why the ground behaves the way it does here.
Design work is best done over winter so the build can start as soon as the ground opens up. Planting windows are spring and early fall. Maintenance programs can start any time in the season. If you are planning ahead, our spring lawn care checklist is a useful starting point.
