BARK MULCH INSTALLATION IN LANGLEY, BC

Bark Mulch Installation in Langley, BC

Beds measured, bulk mulch delivered, barrowed in and spread by hand. This is the yard we work out of, so Langley is the shortest run we make, from the City centre out through Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Murrayville and Fort Langley.

Langley Is a City and a Township

Most pages about Langley treat it as one place. It is two. There is a City of Langley and a Township of Langley, and they are separate municipalities with separate halls and separate websites. The Township’s own site puts it plainly: it “boasts several distinct communities”.
The shapes are worth knowing if you are booking work. The City is the small one, and it “lies directly east of Surrey, adjacent to the Cloverdale area, and is surrounded elsewhere by the Township of Langley, bordered by its neighbourhoods of Willowbrook to the north, Murrayville to the east, and Brookswood and Fern Ridge to the south”. So a Langley address can be either, and the two are not interchangeable.

The City of Langley

The compact part, around the Langley Centre and the Bypass. Smaller lots, older gardens, and beds that have usually been mulched before. It meets Surrey and Cloverdale on its west side and the Township everywhere else.

The Township of Langley

Much the larger of the two, and a collection of separate communities rather than one suburb. Walnut Grove and Willoughby are the built up north, Murrayville and Willowbrook sit against the City, Fort Langley is the old village on the river, and Aldergrove is the far east end.

Why we ask which one

A Willoughby townhouse bed and an acreage out past Milner are the same service and a very different day. Telling us the community rather than just “Langley” is what lets us quote the yardage and the time properly.

Most of the Township’s land sits inside the Agricultural Land Reserve, which is why so much of Langley is still farmland and acreage rather than subdivision. It is also why bed sizes here vary more than anywhere else we work: the same phone call can mean two yards of mulch or twelve.

This Is the Yard We Work Out Of

Splendid Landscaping is based in Langley. Every other page on this site is a place we drive to, and this is the one we start from, which mostly shows up in small ways: a look at the beds before quoting is easy to arrange, and a bulk load is a short run rather than a scheduled trip.
It also means we are not guessing about the ground. The difference between a newly planted Willoughby bed and a Fort Langley garden that has been mulched every spring for as long as the owner can remember is not theoretical here.
What we will not do is promise a day before we have seen the job. A load has to be ordered in first, so the date comes with the quote rather than after it. If you want to know which grade suits your beds before we visit, our guide to bark mulch for Langley gardens goes through the options one by one.

What We Do, and What We Hand Over

What we hand over. If a bank needs holding rather than covering, that is a retaining job and a different trade, and we will say so rather than sell you mulch that will not stay. We do not lay landscape fabric under mulch, and the longer explanation is on the Maple Ridge mulch page.

Depth and yardage are both on the main bark mulch page. Which grade to pick is in our Langley bark mulch guide. Graded beds are covered on the Burnaby mulch page and low lying beds on the Pitt Meadows mulch page. New beds from scratch are garden bed installation, a seasonal clear before mulching is spring cleanup, and a full tidy is yard cleanup in Langley.

Bark Mulch Across Langley

The City centre and the streets around the Bypass, the newer subdivisions of Willoughby and Walnut Grove, the established gardens of Murrayville, Brookswood and Fernridge, the village lots in Fort Langley, Aldergrove at the east end, and the acreages on the rural roads between them. One crew, and a quote that says which community it was written for.
Mulch in neighbouring cities is on the Richmond, Delta, Surrey, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford pages, and our areas served page covers the whole service area.

Langley Bark Mulch Questions

Both. In the Township that means Willowbrook, Murrayville, Brookswood and Fernridge, Walnut Grove, Willoughby, Fort Langley, Aldergrove, and the rural roads in between. Name the community when you ring and the quote can allow for it.

For the mulch itself, no. For the quote, a little: the City is compact with smaller and mostly older beds, while the Township runs from new Willoughby subdivisions to acreages inside the Agricultural Land Reserve. Bed sizes vary more in Langley than anywhere else we work.

Either. On a larger property we quote by the bed rather than by the property, so you are not paying for ground nobody is going to mulch. It is worth saying roughly how many beds there are when you ring.

We measure before anything is ordered, so you are not left with a pile on the drive. If you want to work it out yourself first, there is a calculator and the depth we use on our main bark mulch page.

Both, and they can be booked separately. The two options are set out on our main bark mulch page.

Bulk mulch has to be ordered and brought in, so a few days of notice is normal. Ring and we will give you a date when we quote, not afterwards.

Not on its own. Mulch covers soil and slows it drying out; it does not rebuild ground that has been compacted or stripped. If that is the problem the bed needs remaking first, which is garden bed installation rather than mulching.

No, we leave it out, and there is a full explanation of the reasoning on our Maple Ridge mulch page.
