Hedge Trimming in White Rock, BC
In White Rock, a Hedge Is a View Decision
A hedge screens and blocks at once
The same green wall that hides a parked car or a window hides whatever is behind it. On a street where the ground falls away, what is behind it is often the reason you are on that street. Worth deciding on purpose rather than finding out a season later.
Your outlook is not the only one
A hedge on a back boundary faces two ways. Yours is the side you see every day, and the other side is somebody's window. We cut what you ask for on your ground, and we will tell you plainly how the far face is going to look when we are done.
A height is easier to hold than to get back
Tell us the height you want and we keep it there every visit, which is a trim. Letting it climb for a few seasons and then asking for it back is a reduction: a bigger job, a different price, and a hedge that looks cut about rather than kept.
One thing we will not do is tell you how high you are allowed to grow it. We are a landscaping crew, not the City, and the rules for your address are the City of White Rock’s to give you rather than ours to guess at. Ask them, then tell us the number and we will cut to it and keep cutting to it.
The Far Side of the Hedge Belongs to Somebody Else
What the Job Covers, and What It Does Not
- Faces cut back to the line the hedge has been kept to
- The top held at the height you set, visit after visit
- What the cut will open up mentioned before we start
- The far face described honestly when we cannot reach it
- Clippings collected off beds, lawn and hard surfaces
- Green waste taken away with us, inside the quoted price
- The base left clear so you can see what you actually have
What we do not do. We do not work within reach of overhead service lines. A hedge growing up into the drop to a house needs a crew qualified to work near live conductors, and we will say so rather than take it on. That is our own rule and not a quote of anyone else’s.
We do not take trees down, grind stumps, or reach past what a platform safely gets to. Weed killer is not something we use at all. Ornamental pruning of specimen trees is tree pruning, and where a hedge has been left long enough that it needs reducing rather than trimming, that is a bigger job and the main hedge trimming page sets out what is involved.

White Rock Hedge Trimming Questions
That one is the City’s to answer, not ours. We are a landscaping crew and we are not going to guess at the rules for your address. Ask the City of White Rock, then give us the height and we will cut to it and hold it there.
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Cutting a hedge back to the line it has been kept at will not lower it. If what you want is the hedge lower than it has been, say so when you ask for a price, because that is a reduction rather than a trim and it looks different afterwards.
Talk to them before you talk to us, because the answer shapes the job. We can cut the top down, take the far face back, or leave it as it is, and those are three different quotes. What we will not do is take the conversation on for you.
Only from ground we are allowed to be on. We ask before stepping over to reach a back face, and if that is not possible we cut from your side and over the top and tell you how the other face will look. You will hear that before the price, not after it.
Yes. Access is usually the thing that decides the price rather than the hedge itself: where the truck can park, how far the clippings have to travel, and whether there is anywhere flat to stand a platform. We will look at that when we quote.
It depends what it is. A laurel or a cedar screen usually wants more than one cut across a growing season to keep a crisp face, and one if you are happy with something softer. Boxwood and slower mixed hedges need less.
Yes. White Rock is its own city rather than a part of Surrey, and it is small enough that everything inside it is the same run for us. If your address turns out to be on the Surrey side of the line, we still come, and the Surrey page covers that side.
No, that is arborist work and we will point you to one. The same applies to stumps, and to anything higher than a platform can safely reach.
No, spraying is not part of a hedge trim. Anything we clear around the base is done by hand.
