Bark Mulch Installation in Tsawwassen, BC
Watering Is Restricted Every Summer
The limits are regional, not local
They are set by Metro Vancouver and apply right across Delta, so a Tsawwassen garden is under the same rules as the rest of the region. The City publishes the current stage and what it allows.
A covered bed holds what you give it
Bare soil loses water off the surface. A layer of bark slows that down, so the water a bed does get stays in reach of the roots for longer instead of going straight back into the air.
It is not a substitute for watering
Worth saying plainly. Mulch reduces what a bed loses; it does not put anything in. A new planting still needs water through its first summer, restrictions or not.
A Peninsula, and Part of Delta
What Is In the Price, and What Is Not
- The beds measured before anything is ordered
- Bulk mulch delivered, barrowed in and spread by hand
- A clean edge cut where the bed meets lawn or path
- Existing mulch broken up rather than buried
- Kept back from stems and off the hard surfaces
- Beds watered in at the time of laying where rules allow
- Paths and the drive swept down before we leave
What is not in it. We do not install or alter irrigation, so if a bed needs a line run to it that is a separate trade and we will say so rather than quote around it. We also do not lay landscape fabric under mulch, and the reasoning is on the Maple Ridge mulch page.
Depth and how much a bed needs are on the main bark mulch page. Which grade to choose is in our bark mulch guide. The wider Delta picture is the Delta mulch page, beds on a slope are the Burnaby mulch page, and ground that stays wet is the Pitt Meadows mulch page. New beds from scratch are garden bed installation, and a seasonal clear before mulching is spring cleanup.

Tsawwassen Bark Mulch Questions
Both, and they are written for different things. Tsawwassen is one of Delta’s three communities, so the Delta page covers the wider area and how beds near open water behave. This page is the Tsawwassen detail. Either way it is the same crew and the same quote process.
It helps with what the restrictions cost you. Metro Vancouver limits watering region wide for part of every summer, and a bare bed gives up a good deal of what it gets straight off the surface. Cover the soil and less of it goes back into the air. It adds no water of its own, and a new planting still needs some.
Check the current stage with the City of Delta before you plan around it, because the rules change through the season and the stage in force is published. We will water the layer in at the time of laying where the rules allow it.
All of it. Beach Grove down by Boundary Bay, the streets rising away from it, English Bluff on the western side, and every residential block in between.
We measure before anything is ordered, so there is no pile left over on the drive. The depth we work to and a way of estimating it yourself are both on our main bark mulch page.
Both, and they can be booked separately. The two options are set out on our main bark mulch page.
No, and anyone promising that is overselling it. Mulch reduces what a bed loses to evaporation. It puts nothing in. Established plantings cope with far less water under mulch than without it, but less is not none.
No, we leave it out, and there is a full explanation of the reasoning on our Maple Ridge mulch page.
